Playa Yankee, 3 min
The closest, and the wildest: a raw, natural beach with powerful waves, known as one of the best surf spots on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua. A path under the trees leads down to the sand.
Playa Hermosa, 5 min
A wide beach, popular with surfers, with plenty of room to walk along the water.
Playa Remanso, 7 min
For many, the most beautiful beach around: rocks and turquoise water, with a gentler wave on calm days.
San Juan del Sur, 15 min
The town, its bay and its sunsets under the Christ of Mercy: shops, banks and restaurants, 15 minutes by car.
Surf, sunsets and horses
Surfers come for the waves at dawn; everyone stays for the sunset. For another view of the coast, the equestrian centre in Escamequita village offers horse rides down to the beach.
