Our story: from a century-old cattle farm to Las Planadas
Las Planadas did not start as a real-estate project. It started with a farm, and a family that wanted to live closer to the land.
Leaving Canada
We left Canada in 2019. In 2020 we took over Finca Escamequita, “La Hacienda”: a century-old cattle farm that produced milk and cheese.
Bringing the land back to life
We planted thousands of trees and more than twenty kinds of fruit, coffee, vegetable gardens and medicinal herbs. Twenty of the seventy-five acres are back to forest, and the soil, rich in water again, gives exceptional organic produce.
The Hacienda and the casitas
The century-old farmhouse, all wood, with its long veranda above the gardens, now welcomes travellers, along with Yankee Cabin, Casita Blanca and Casa Ladrillos. The four houses are rated 4.86 on Airbnb, and the whole finca hosts groups of up to 20 people.
Las Planadas
Then we chose the best part of the land for Las Planadas, so that others could join us. Today, 32 lots are for sale, a short walk from Escamequita village and 3 minutes from Playa Yankee.
